Saturday, April 27, is National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. This event addresses a crucial public health and safety issue. According to the 2019 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 6.2 million Americans misused controlled prescription drugs. The study shows that a majority of abused prescription drugs were obtained from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet.
The DEA’s Take Back Day events provide an opportunity for Americans to safely and anonymously dispose of unneeded prescriptions and prevent drug addiction and overdose deaths.
The Reading Hospital Ambulatory Pharmacy, located in the 5th Avenue lobby, has a Medsafe collection receptacle where you can safely and conveniently drop off your unneeded prescriptions during regular pharmacy hours (Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.).
